Why do energy ratings differ?
For people who have conducted both an (EPC) Energy Performance Certificate and is Display Energy Certificate (DEC) they may discover that the Energy Ratings may differ. The EPC is a survey of the building in terms of efficiency but the DEC is a benchmark of your total energy usage within your property.
The reason for the difference is how we use our energy. Many of the best EPC rated sites have poor DECs as they use energy poorly within them. In other words the building is in good shape but the behaviours inside towards using energy are poor.

A lot of people just see that they have to have an epc or Dec done but they don’t see the real value of having one done. After all their there to guide you on how you can save money by improveing the building and where you are wasting money where you could be saving and investing it back into you company or building. And if its councill owned then it comes out of our taxes so its the duty of the building occupier to save money. And behavior change holds the key to achieving that goal of saving energy, money and our carbon footprint
